In the year 2008 in Muggle America, for the first time in history someone other than a white man is headed for the white house, and after 8 years of what for many has been an endless train of setbacks and disappointments, the people are finally destined for change.
In the year 1978 in Wizarding Britain, Bellatrix Lestrange, elected by emergency Wizengamot vote to the position of Minister for Magic following the shocking assassination of Millicent Bagnold, has been in office for nearly 2 months. While many view the young witch -- the youngest Minister in history, in fact -- as another agent of change and cause for hope, rigidly schooled in the same social doctrine as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and his followers and thus better equipped to fight him than anyone could have hoped, a select few know absolutely what danger Minister Lestrange presents. In October, Albus Dumbledore formed the Order of the Phoenix to combat You-Know-Who, who, right under Dumbledore's nose, has managed to get the Ministry wrapped around his little finger without anyone noticing. In November, the Order will fight.
Fault Lines is an AU MWPP era RPG, started in late summer of 2008. With a focus on adult storylines, and political intrigue as well as guerrilla battle between the Order and Death Eaters, Fault Lines puts an emphasis on quality writing and engaging storylines rather than petty teen drama. (We still have anonymous masquerades now and then, though, and they're pretty badass.) We're currently seeking good, dedicated writers to come and join our team; plots for the next couple months include the introduction and interaction of pro- and anti-Muggle groups with more moderate agendas than the Death Eaters and the Order, and the assassination and framing of one of them to fulfill political goals; a mandatory curfew that will be used to frighten and isolate the public, as well as provide justification for mandatory counseling for high-risk members of the Ministry whose jobs force them to go out into the big, bad night; the surprise disappearance of the entire city of Nottingham; and, of course, Order missions to foil all this repressive, dangerous bullshit. We like big plots, we like little plots. We like good guys, bad guys, girls girls girls, young people and old, black, white, and blue, and above all any three-dimensional, well-written characters. Right now we'd be especially interested in seeing the following spots filled:
